MERCEDES-Benz Malaysia Sdn Bhd has expanded its extensive SUV portfolio with the launch of the new GLC 200 sports utility vehicle (SUV).
“As the No. 1 premium brand, we combined ultimate driving comfort, dynamic handling and great agility in our SUVs as they define new benchmarks, break conventions and provide customers with an ultimate choice of vehicle for their unique and active lifestyle.
“As the locally-produced GLC models are a crowd favourite, we are excited to bring the GLC 200 as an additional choice for those who desire an exclusive SUV,” said sales & marketing passenger cars vice-president Mark Raine at the launching ceremony.
The GLC 200 comes with a 2.0-litre four in-line engine that is mated to a nine-stage 9G-Tronic automatic transmission.
It delivers 184hp at 5,500rpm, and produces 300Nm of torque from 1,200 to 4,000 rpm.
Mercedes-Benz claims that the GLC 200 can complete the century sprint in 8.7 seconds, with a top speed of 210kph.
The new model is equipped with 19-inch five-spoke light-alloy wheels, chrome-plated simulated underguard, chrome-plated tailpipe trims, roof rails, LED high-performance headlamps, LED taillights, dynamic handling control, leather and fabric upholstery with ash wood trims, ambient lighting, Thermotronic automatic climate control air-conditioning, keyless entry with push-start button, cruise control, parking pilot with Parktronic, seven-inch display, Audio 20 infotainment system, electrically-adjustable front seats, roller sun blinds for rear passengers, and a powered tailgate.
As for safety, the GLC 200 comes with seven airbags, active brake assist, anti-theft warning system, interior monitoring system, tyre pressure monitoring system, adaptive brake lights, pre-safe system, Isofix childseat mounting points and run-flat tyres.
The SUV is priced at RM288,888 without insurance but inclusive of six per cent GST.
The company’s Agility Financing is offering a deal with monthly repayments of RM2,888 for the GLC 200, and every unit comes with a four-year unlimited mileage warranty.
In addition to the launch, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia also launched the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe OrangeArt Edition.
It is based on the GLC 43 Coupe, with added orange lining on its exterior and interior, as well as carbon fibre finishing on its dashboard.
The limited edition AMG GLC 43 Coupe OrangeArt is retailed at RM718,888, excluding insurance but including GST.
