Macan SportDesign Series elevates exclusivity

SIME Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) has unveiled the new Macan SportDesign Series, a new addition to Porsche’s line-up of compact sport utility vehicles (SUVs).

The new Macan SportDesign Series features distinctive aesthetic bits and enhanced standard specifications to deliver higher-level exclusivity.

The appearance of the Macan can be distinguished by its more dynamic front and rear apron, painted side skirts, contrasting black and red accents and a new subtle livery that goes along the hood.

Other standard options include the blacked-out LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS+), tinted LED tail lights, roof rails and sports tail pipes in high gloss black.

The new Macan SportDesign Series is offered in two paint colours - Carrara White Metallic and Volcano Grey Metallic - and can be fitted with either the 911 Turbo Wheel multi-spoke set or the Sport Classic Wheel one-piece alloys.

Sime Darby Auto Performance chief executive officer Arnt Bayer said: “The design and livery of the Macan SportDesign Series is the clear differentiation factor for this new Macan and its unmistakable character. It is a clear nod to the motorsport heritage of every Porsche.

“With the many premium features now offered as standard, the Macan SportDesign Series provides a sportier look and feel, giving our customers a greater experience of the sporting fundamentals of a Porsche.”

Upholstery in the cabin of the Macan SportDesign Series consist of a Black and Garnet Red leather combination, along with contrasting Garnet Red colour scheme for the stitching, seat belts, instrument cluster and the Sport Chrono stopwatch.

A set of Bose Surround Sound System with 14 speakers complement the infotainment system for a sophisticated and crispy audio experience.

Chassis wise, the car gets air suspension with levelling system and ride-height adjustment, including Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and the Sport Chrono Package as standard.

The Macan SportDesign Series is able to complete a century sprint in 6.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 229kph.

Propulsion is provided by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, punching out 252hp and 370Nm of torque, coupled with a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and an all-wheel drive system.

The aforementioned drivetrain is similar to the one found on the base Macan.

Limited to 40 units here in Malaysia, the new Porsche Macan SportDesign Series retails at RM545,000 (before road tax and insurance) and comes with a four-year warranty and free maintenance package for peace-of-mind ownership.
