Proton launches first upgraded 4S outlet

THE doors to the first upgraded 4S Proton outlet opened on Friday , giving an indication of the service experience that customers can expect from Proton in the future.

Setia Gemilang Auto Sdn Bhd launched its outlet in Shah Alam. The new outlet showroom is replete with room for 11 display cars, 14 service hoists, 12 body and paint bays and a 30-seat customer lounge, ready to serve Proton customers.

Proton said that to-date 75 per cent of its target was achieved, with 82 outlets approved for upgrading for the year.

The showroom was officiated by Proton chief executive officer Dr Li Chunrong.

“I am pleased that the upgrading exercise of the new 4S and 3S outlets is progressing well, especially with excellent team effort displayed by our dealers together with the Proton team.

“The new set up will stand to attract more people to the outlet, as consumers usually like to see and experience new things, new surroundings, new look and feel, and better ambience.

“The interior and exterior are fitted with placement of different colours to display youthfulness and modernity, with significant spaces created for the kids’ corner, customer lounge and coffee area. Customers who enter the outlet will be able to enjoy the new facilities, comfortable waiting lounge while waiting to service their cars, with the convenience of free wifi to keep customers connected.

“We care for customers’ needs and we want to emphasise that customer satisfaction remains our key priority. Most importantly, we want to convey the message of a brand new Proton moving forward,” said Li.

The new showroom features new colours that Proton says represent a global lifestyle, technology driven focus and youthful exuberance.

Proton says the upgrade of the outlets is accompanied with better performance and service. Coupled with the result from the recruitment of better qualified sales and after-sales representatives, and training to enhance their skills, it is expected to improve its CSI and SSI scores.

Proton aims to have a total of 109 3S and 4S outlets by October this year in preparation for its soon to be released SUV. As at end May, the company has 82 outlets ready for upgrades to 3S and 4S.

Transport Ministry comes down hard on express bus operators and drivers with outstanding summonses

THE transport ministry is coming down hard on express bus operators during the coming Raya festive period, warning that vehicles and drivers caught with outstanding summonses would not be allowed to continue their journey, even if their bus is laden with passengers.

Its minister, Anthony Loke, said the move which started yesterday and will last until June 22, is part of the road safety campaign and Integrated Ops enforcement action during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

It’s a move that should have been made a long time ago.

The Road Transport Department (RTD) enforcement will conduct inspections at all major bus stations and terminals throughout the country. All bus records and drivers will be inspected. The National Anti-Drugs Agency will also screen the bus drivers as well.

The total number of road accidents last year increased by 2.4 per cent which was 533,875 cases compared with 521,446 cases in 2016.

However, the integrated ops to reduce accidents has been proven to lower accident rates during festive periods.

The effectiveness of the Integrated Ops had been proven based on a 5.76 per cent reduction in mortality during the campaign and operations during Aidilfitri last year which recorded 6,740 cases compared to 7,152 (2016), according to Loke.

During the Hari Raya period, there will also be a ban on heavy vehicles including lorries and trailers on all highwayd and federal roads which will be enforced on June 13 and June 14; as well as June 23 and 24, to avoid severe congestion and serious accidents.
