Bigger and better Ducati Scrambler

BIGGER, better and, of course, more fun. That’s what the new Ducati Scrambler 1100 is all about.

Next Bike Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor of Ducati motorcycles in Malaysia, recently launched the Scrambler 1100 in two variants for the Malaysian market - Ducati Scrambler 1100 Special and Ducati Scrambler 1100 Sport.

Naza Corporation Holdings group chief executive officer Datuk Samson Anand George said: “The Scrambler 1100 aims to meet the needs of

even the most demanding motorbike enthusiast, infusing more fun, style and freedom that have been the

cornerstone trademark of the Scrambler.

“With multiple touch points, activations and customer engagements throughout the last three years, we anticipate to see more movement of the Scrambler bikes for 2018,” he added.

The Ducati Scrambler 1100 Special and Ducati Scrambler 1100 Sport is developed in a way that they coexist with one another in the range - the Scrambler 1100 Special, being a contemporary classic, draws inspiration from the custom world; and the Scrambler 1100 Sport, as its name suggests, is the Ducati Scrambler’s interpretation of muscle bikes heritage.

The most apparent upgrade on the Scrambler 1100 from the Scrambler 800 is the size. Dimension wise, it is much larger than other Scrambler brand models at 50mm wider, 69mm longer with a 15-litre fuel tank, 1.5 litres more than the Scrambler 800.

Both the Scrambler 1100 share the improved Monster EVO 1100 engine, and is powered by a Euro 4 compliant 1079cc L-twin two-valve engine that produces 86 hp at 7,500 rpm and 88 Nm of torque at 4,750 rpm.

The Ducati Scrambler 1100 also gets a new chassis set-up with an all-new twin upper spar steel Trellis frame and a rear aluminium subframe.

Safety features installed on both of the Scrambler variants include Bosch 9.1 MP Cornering ABS and Ducati Traction Control (DTC). Braking is handled by a pair of dual 330mm discs and Brembo M4.32B Monobloc calipers up front and 245 mm disc and single-piston calliper on the rear.

The Scrambler 1100 Sport gets Öhlins suspension (Kayaba on the Special variant), with upside-down 45mm forks and a rear shock with adjustable spring preload.

The Ducati Scrambler 1100 Special comes in Custom Grey colour with black frame and black spoked wheels, while the Ducati Scrambler 1100 Sport comes in Viper Black with yellow tank trim and dual yellow striping down the middle of the tank and mudguards, with black frame and wheels.

The Ducati Scrambler 1100 Special and Scrambler 1100 Sport retail at RM83,000 and RM85,000 on-the-road without insurance (0% GST) respectively.
