'Tuisyen Rakyat' programme offers free tuition classes for SPM students

SEREMBAN: Deputy Education Minister II Senator Datuk Chong Sin Woon said students should continue to excel in their studies although Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) results were no longer given to students and schools.

He said students should prepare themselves for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination which was seen as the official examination to determine their chances to further their studies.

“It’s never too late to make preparation and study for your examination. As long as you are focused and have the spirit to excel, the opportunity is always there for you to grab,” said Chong.

He said among the preparations done by students was take extra classes or tuition classes after school to help them improve in their studies.

“It’s a good effort but students must give priority to their school classes to understand the foundation of the subjects taught at school,” he said during his speech to launch the ‘Tuisyen Rakyat’ programme for Seremban Parliamentary constituency held at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Dato’ Klana Putra Lenggeng here today.

He said tuition classes were also important to help students to catch up and improve on various subjects which needed more attention.

“Sometimes, time is limited for students to ask more questions in class so tuition classes provide the opportunity for students to further get the grasp and more understanding of subjects that they might be weak in,” he said.

He added the Tuisyen Rakyat programme, which has been organised since 2013, is offered free involving three secondary schools under the Seremban Parliamentary constituency.

A total of 110 students and 15 teachers were expected to join the tuition classes, which will be held starting next week, every Saturday from 7am to 10pm.

“This is one of the government’s efforts in providing better education for the people and we will organise more beneficial programmes to help our students in the future,” said Chong, who is also Barisan Nasional candidate for the Seremban parliamentary seat in the upcoming 14th General Election.
