UTeM introduces TUAH Special Award

ALOR GAJAH: Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) will be introducing the TUAH Special Award during its 15th convocation ceremony, which will take place from Nov 30 – Dec 3.

UTeM vice-chancellor, Prof Datuk Wira Dr Raha Abd Rahim said the special award is aimed at recognisimg students identified as possesing the spirit of TUAH, defined as agile (Tangkas), superior ( Unggul) adaptive (Adaptif) and holistic (Holistik).

These are traits which UTeM believes are necessary to face the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0) and which will propel its students forward in the future.

In addition, Prof Raha said students with strong academic achievement, high sportsmanship and dedication and those who demonstrated outstanding leadership and bravery will also be recognised.

"The award encourages students to become more involved in university activities. It is also able to inculcate values that the Education Ministry hopes to instil, which are love, happiness, mutual respect and humanity,”.

The recipient of the TUAH Special Award will receive RM2,000, a medal and certificate.

Meanwhile, Raha said 53 percent of the 2,993 students who will be graduating at the convocation will be graduates from Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) courses.

Of the total, 21 graduates will receive a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), a Doctorate of Engineering, 240 Master's, 2,245 Bachelor's and 486 Diplomas.

"All graduates will receive their certificates at the upcoming convocation ceremony at the UTeM Chancellor Hall, for two days involving four sessions beginning December 2," she said.

At the ceremony, Media Prima Berhad (MPB) group chairman Datuk Syed Hussian Syed Junid will receive an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering Technology which is scheduled to be delivered by UTeM Chancellor and Yang di-Pertua Melaka Tun Dr Mohd Khalil Yaakob.
