Gaming phone and laptops from Asus

PETALING JAYA: ASUS Malaysia has unveiled a game-changing smartphone under its Republic of Gamers brand.

Targeted at game enthusiasts, the ROG Phone has a 6-inch display with pure ROG gaming DNA at its core. It is powered by a fast 2.96GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform with gaming-optimised Qualcomm Adreno 630 GPU.

This powerful device is complemented by up to 8GB of RAM and a massive up to 512GB of onboard ROM storage. To cater the power-intensive demands of gaming, ROG Phone has a high-capacity 4000mAh battery.

No one likes to play games with a heated smartphone, that’s why ASUS embedded its exclusive GameCool system that features highly efficient 3D vapor-chamber cooling inside that provides a larger surface area for heat dissipation.

If that is not enough, there’s also a detachable external AeroActive Cooler for an extra cooling boost when the going gets really tough.

Besides the AeroActive Cooler, ROG Phone also features a unique range of optional expansion peripherals designed to take the mobile gaming experience to new heights.

The amazing TwinView Dock turns ROG Phone into a powerful dual-screen console for the ultimate gaming and live-streaming experience.

The Mobile Desktop Dock allows gamers to connect ROG Phone to an external 4K UHD monitor, mouse and keyboard while the Gamevice controller and the WiGig Dock morphs the phone into a portable console packing dual analog joysticks, left and right fire triggers and bumpers, a D-pad, along with A,B,X,Y and L3, R3 buttons.

ROG Phone is designed to give gamers total control and a more console-like experience, with three unique ultrasonic AirTrigger touch sensors.

Two of these ultra-responsive sensors are optimised as left or right triggers at the top of the display for landscape-mode gaming (the third is designed for use in portrait mode), and they're fully programmable to activate any available on-screen action: aiming, firing, or even inventory selection.

Sometimes charging your phone during a gameplay also makes it uncomfortable to hold in landscape view. An additional side-mounted custom USB-C connector that supports direct charging, HDMI output, gigabit LAN and headphones will not hinder your gameplay.

Design wise, ROG Phone is crafted using Corning Gorilla Glass, with diamond-cut highlights and copper detailing. It is water-resistant and features an illuminated rear ROG logo that can display a whole rainbow of lighting schemes.

Fitted with a pair of Sony IMX363 sensors, the ROG Phone has dual rear-mounted 12MP cameras with an 8MP lens on the front.

The ROG Phone is priced at RM 3,499 (128GB) and RM 3,999 (512GB). Until Nov 4, customers who wish to pre-order the smartphone can do so at any Asus brand stores, Lazada and Shopee.

At the event, ASUS also announced its TUF Gaming FX505 and FX705, durability-enhanced 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch gaming laptops.

FX505 and FX705 are powered by up to an 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8750 H processor and up to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 GPU.

The laptops have immersive 144Hz high-refresh rate NanoEdge displays, the keyboards have an ample 1.8mm of key travel, and exclusive ASUS Overstroke technology raises the actuation point higher in the stroke to improve responsiveness.

Both the FX505 and FX705 have also passed the demanding military-grade MIL-STD-810G test for sudden jolts. The HyperCool systems, with independent fans and heatsinks, are designed to cool the CPU and GPU separately. The design also places the fans directly underneath the keyboard to help remove heat, keeping the keyboard cool and comfortable during extended gameplay sessions.

Available in Red Matter and Gold Steel design, these laptops prices range from RM3,699 to RM5,899, depending on specifications.
