Wahab not answering calls, phone switched off

KUALA LUMPUR: Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani, has yet to appear before the police to assist with investigations, says the Inspector General of Police.

Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said that as of this afternoon, Wahab has not appeared to the police and that the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has used various methods in an effort to track down Wahab.

"Although he has been called to assist in the investigation, Wahab has not yet come forward to assist the police in relation to the investigation of the case.

"We used various methods including contacting him but his mobile phone was switched off," he told Berita Harian today.

Razarudin said the police's action to trace Wahab through his lawyer also reached a dead end after the 33-year-old man also did not answer calls.

"Therefore, I request Wahab to immediately appear for the process of recording the conversation to help the investigation as well as resolve the case as soon as possible.

"Information and evidence from Wahab is very important and can confirm Mr H's role in the case," he said.

Previously in a press conference at a hotel in Bangi, Wahab revealed that his action of recording a lewd conversation between himself and Mohammad Agus was orchestrated by an individual known as Mr H.

Last Friday, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director, Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, confirmed that the police has recorded the statement of three individuals in the case, namely Agus, the individual who is said to be Mr H and an employee of the hotel where the press conference was held.

Shuhaily said the investigation of the case was carried out in accordance with Section 500 of the Penal Code for defamation and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 which is the improper use of network facilities or network services.
