KUALA LUMPUR: Huawei's flagship smartphone, the P40 Pro+, will be available in Malaysia starting this Saturday, June 26, but before you get your hands on it, let's see how sturdy this phone is.
The phone body is made of nano-tech ceramic to give it the extra strength to withstand the elements of nature.
Through a complex process involving kilning and polishing, the new nano-tech ceramic panel for Huawei P40 Pro+ is engineered to be lighter and thinner, as well as appearing clean and clear under light refractions.
A material almost as durable as sapphire, the body of the P40 Pro+ is more scratch resistant compared to other materials like glass or metal, and because ceramic is a non-conductive material with regards to heat and electricity, the P40 Pro+ cools down much faster than other materials.
Additionally, the Huawei P40 Pro+ is backed by an international rating standard of IP-68, which means it can withstand dust, dirt and sand, and is resistant to freshwater submersion up to a maximum depth of 1.5m, for 30 minutes.
The tests
We put the phone under three stress test - water resistance test, scratch test and heat dissipation test.
For the water resistance test, the Huawei P40 Pro+ is thrown into a casing of water for about 20 minutes, and as expected, the phone survived the test without any damage.
We also tried to scratch the phone using a car key but the smooth surface of the nano ceramic back remained intact with no scratch marks.
And for the heat dissipation test, we put the phone under video mode for 10 minutes and let the body heated up to 36.0 degree Celcius.
However, as we stopped the video recording, the body, with the help of the ceramic non-conductive material, cooled down within seconds to 35.2 degree Celcius.
