KUALA LUMPUR: Apple fans who have been waiting for the new iPhone 12 can start to pre-order the all the four models - iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max - from 9pm tonight.

The Cupertino-based company will officially launch the phones in 50 countries and regions on Friday, Nov 13, and Malaysia is one of the first country batches to received all the four models.

The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini come a 6.1-inch and 5.4-inch size respectively, making the latter the smallest 5G phone today.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max feature a 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screen respectively.

Under the hood of the phones are Apple's fastest chip, the A14 Bionic, which offers the fastest CPU and GPU by up to 50 percent compared to the current smartphone chips.

Photography

The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini offer a dual-camera system with new computational photography features, while the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max take photography and video to the next level with their three camera system, which takes advantage of the A14 Bionic chip.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 12 Pro models have an advantage with its Apple ProRAW, coming later this year, which combines Apple's multi-frame image processing and computational photography with the versatility of a RAW format.

With this capability, users can experience full creative control over colour, detail, and dynamic range natively on iPhone or with other professional photo editing apps.

The iPhone 12 Pro features the new seven-element lens Wide camera with an ƒ/1.6 aperture; while the Ultra Wide camera with a 120-degree field of view is perfect for capturing more scenes in tight spots or epic landscapes. The phone's 52 mm focal length Telephoto camera is great for framing portraits, bringing the optical zoom range to 4x.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 12 Pro Max takes the pro camera experience even further. The new ƒ/1.6 aperture Wide camera boasts a 47 percent larger sensor with 1.7μm pixels for a massive 87 percent improvement in low-light conditions. It also includes the expansive Ultra Wide camera and a 65 mm focal length Telephoto camera for increased flexibility with closer shots and tighter crops. Combined, this system offers 5x optical zoom range.

MagSafe accessories

Apple has decided to ditch the power adapter and EarPods from iPhone packaging in its effort to further reduce carbon emissions and avoid the mining and use of precious materials. As a change, the company introduced MagSafe technology, which improves wireless charging for efficient experience.

MagSafe features an array of magnets around the wireless charging coil, optimised for alignment and efficiency, that connects to iPhone every time.
