TAKING photos or videos on our phones has become a big part of our lives, but not everything we share needs to stick around forever or sit on our camera roll taking up space.
In order to give people an additional layer of privacy and control over what they send, WhatsApp said it is rolling out 'View Once' photos and videos strating this week.
The platform said View Once content will disappear from the chat after it has been opened and is a new way to send private and disappearing media.
"We hope that people continue to remain thoughtful about what they share and with View Once they can feel more confident and comfortable sending things that might be sensitive like a wifi password to people they know and trust," said the company.
"As with all the personal messages you send on WhatsApp, View Once media is protected by end-to-end encryption so WhatsApp cannot see them. They will also be clearly marked with a new "one-time" icon," said WhatsApp.
