THE digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group, Alibaba Cloud, introduced a new cloud computer at the recent Apsara Conference.
The Wuying Cloudbook, powered by Wuying Architecture, features a 13.9 mm ultra-thin body and a 14-inch touchscreen.
The cloudbook provides enterprises with unlimited computing power, enhances data security, improves cost efficiency and facilitates collaboration in diverse, hybrid office settings.
High security, scalability and compatibility on the Wuying Cloudbook allow users to leverage cloud computing and minimise workload for local devices.
Users can scale the device's computing power and storage to meet their needs. The cloudbook eliminates capacity restrictions caused by video-rendering software, while making real-time interactive experiences possible with low latency and high quality images.
The cloudbook has secure storage and can transmit large volumes of organisational resources to the cloud.
It can overcome typical security challenges in enterprise environments, such as data loss and local device vulnerabilities.
Users can run multiple operating systems, such as Windows, Linux or Android on the cloudbook simultaneously. These systems have been deployed to the cloud, which means they do not need to be installed on the device, saving storage space and battery consumption.
While the Wuying Cloudbook functions as a laptop, its industry-leading architecture is compatible with tablets and any hardware that requires robust computing power.
Senior research and general manager of infrastructure products of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, Jiang Jiang Wei, said: "Wuying Architecture is a powerful extension and expansion of the workplace. It helps enterprises to enhance flexibility and improve operational efficiency.

With the new cloudbook, Alibaba Cloud now offers cloud computing in the form of a card, a box, an all-in-one PC, a laptop and a Desktop-as-a-Service application.
CUSTOMER EXPERIENCES
Intelligent electric vehicle company IM Motor in China is the first in the automobile industry to adopt Wuying's technology in product design.
During the research and development stage, teams in different locations had to collaborate closely. Wuying's cloud capabilities allowed the teams to access the design documents easily.
Executive director of the intelligence research centre of IM Motors, Xiang Jiao, said: "The automobile industry traditionally relied heavily on offline collaboration, as large-scale workstations were necessary for work processes. Wuying is a dream come true for our sector.
"It offers the necessary computing power to support the intense workload and eases our anxiety around data security when transmitting and sharing confidential design files, allowing us to focus on the design itself," he said.
East China Normal University is one of the early adopters of Wuying in education. The cloud computer has replaced traditional server rooms in research projects by centralising all data in the cloud. This allows students to work seamlessly on their projects, from laboratories to classrooms to dormitories.
By running data analytics on the cloud, the university's research efficiency has greatly improved.
"This mobile research mode offered by Wuying has proven to be very valuable for professors and students alike. On-the-cloud laboratories provide unlimited computing power, overcoming the limitations of latency and bandwidth in a localised setting," said professor of the School of Data Science and Engineering at East China Normal University, Wang Wei.
"In addition, it's a powerful, 24/7 service, which helps us obtain research results in a much shorter time," the professor said.
