YOUTH and Sports Ministry is exploring to cooperate with i-City to promote sports and active lifestyles among youths and the community through the Rakan Muda programme and Rahmah packages.
Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, said that the ministry will continue to intensify its efforts to promote sports and active lifestyles by cooperating with malls to provide safe spaces for young people and communities to participate in active and sporting activities.
She said that larger participation in sporting activities creates a bigger likelihood for the nation to discover new sports talents.
"The combination of technology into extreme sports spaces such as ones available within the Digital Sports Arena can provide a teaser teaser for young people to discover their passion in certain types of sports. With the combination of AI into sporting activities like ping pong and boxing, one does not need a sparing partner to discover such sport," she said at the launch of Digital Sports Arena at CityWalk i-City recently.
Spanning 30,000 square feet, the Digital Sports Arena is the only indoor extreme sports arena that combines technology and sports to enhance the overall experience of family, team building and community sporting events.
In addition to extreme sports equipment such as wall climbing, trampolines, and ninja courses, the newly-opened Digital Sports Arena at i-City features more than 12 extreme sports and family recreational facilities.
According to I-Berhad chairman Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong, i-City has integrated technology such as artificial intelligence and sensors into sports equipment within the Digital Sports Arena to encourage family and community involvement in adopting a more active and healthy lifestyle, keeping up with the times.
"Technology has become a significant part of people's daily lives. The rapid advancement of technology is sustainable, and integrating interactive technology into sports facilities can further enhance sporting events and empower the public to be more active," he said.
