The new Double Serum by Clarins harnesses the power and potency of nature, writes Meera Murugesan
I KNOW serums are meant to be used as part of a step-by-step skincare regime. Cleanse, tone, apply serum and then sun protection cream. Those are the basic steps during the day.
Ideally, a serum should be used twice a day so one repeats the whole process in the evening but instead of a sun protection cream, one uses a night cream after the serum.
However, I find that when there are too many steps in a skincare routine, it becomes cumbersome to follow, especially on a daily basis.
Most of the time, I don’t use a serum during the day but I do like to use it at night, especially to replace a night cream.
Serums tend to be lighter and more “easy” on the skin than creams and that’s exactly what I want when I turn in for the night. Also, they deliver a potent dose of nutrients for the skin.
Clarins’ new Double Serum is actually two-serums-in-one so it’s supposed to have double the power when it comes to anti-ageing abilities.
True to the brand’s philosophy of drawing from nature, it boasts a range of potent plant extracts, including turmeric extract rich in turmerone to target visible signs of ageing.
Turmeric has been used for centuries by Indian women as part of their beauty and skincare regime. It’s a well-known fact that turmeric helps to heal and purify skin, and improve texture besides giving a healthy, radiant glow.
This serum also contains other natural ingredients such as organic green banana and goji berry extract, horse chestnut, ginger lily and organic quinoa extract.
To use this Double Serum, one needs to first read the instruction leaflet in the box carefully.
I found it a tad tiresome trying to figure out how to get the serum dispensed from the bottle when there didn’t seem to be any obvious opening at the top of the bottle.
I kept fiddling with it until I read the leaflet and realised one has to first turn the dial at the top of the bottle to select the correct dosage (there are two options) for one’s skin and then only press the pump to dispense the product.
BEAUTY BOOOST
The serum has the colour of dark honey and a light refreshing fragrance which is appealing. It’s also light in texture and easily absorbed when applied onto skin.
I used it nightly without fail for a couple of weeks and occasionally during the day too.
My skin certainly felt softer and less dry, and I particularly liked the texture and scent of the product.
Hydration is important for skin to look fresh and younger, and certainly this product delivers in that aspect.
With better hydration, my skin looked smoother and less tired and aged.
The new Double Serum is also suitable for all skin types, women of all ages and ethnicity which makes it even more appealing.
