Atelier Swarovski previews designer collaborations for environmental causes

Atelier Swarovski will release three special collaborative collections in January next year that highlights worthy environmental causes.

The first is a collection from brand ambassador and Oscar-winning actress Penelope Cruz called Botanical Jewels. The 18-piece line features floral motifs to help bring awareness on the importance of bees and other pollinators to the natural environment as well as its link to our food chain.

The collection will benefit environmental organisation The Nature Conservancy, which protects 48 million hectares of land worldwide.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Susan Rockefeller has designed a collection inspired by panda bears and bamboo. The 15-piece collection includes necklaces with baguette-cut dark green crystals that line up to look like bamboo.

This collection will also benefit The Nature Conservancy, which works in China to help protect and restore various natural habitats to protect not only pandas but also golden snub-nosed monkeys and the Asian black bear.

Most interesting – from an aesthetic point of view – is Atelier Swarovski’s collection with London-based women’s wear designer Catherine Prevost.

Her focus is on three species in crisis in St Vincent & the Grenadines in the Caribbean, namely the hawksbill turtle, parrotfish and the Union Island gecko. These animals have been transformed into brooches, pendants and other accessories using Pointiage crystals in vibrant colours such as green, purple and blue.

The collection will benefit the St Vincent & the Grenadines Environment Fund, which was part of a successful campaign to ban the killing of sea turtles around the islands in 2017.
