Instagram personality and digital content creator Asma’ Nasarudin is known for many things—the positive health and wellness messages she imparts on her platform, her love for muted shades like white and beige, her juicing habit and her passion for dramatic shoes.
Local label Mel & Molly has tapped her love for fancy footwear in a six-piece collaboration that sees flats and heels decorated in simple and dramatic ways.
“I’m a real shoe lady,” she says at the launch on Monday. “In college, I would starve myself and spend my pocket money on shoes that I like,”
“I’m a simple person when it comes to clothes, but I go dramatic with shoes because that’s where you can dress up and go wild without going overboard,” she says.
She says she has 15 pairs which she wears on rotation and the collaboration is also about making shoes that don’t require clothes styling and footwear you can wear on repeat.
“There are flats, kitten heels and four-inch heels and I oversee the design and production of the shoes to make sure they are comfortable,”
“Everything is designed and made in Malaysia and I’m proud of the line and the team behind it,” she says.
Each shoe has its own distinct name - 50 First Sandals, What Women
Want Slip Ons, You've Got Ruffled, Always Be My Heels, My Best Friend's Heels and No Strings Attached Heels—a tribute to romantic comedy, Asma’s favourite film genre.
Like the movies, the shoes are inspired by a touch of love and romance with ruffles and bow detailing to elevate the spirit of “love is in the air”.
