Dress up in luxury

LOCAL designer Khoon Hooi's bespoke line for Chinese New Year is all about an impeccable sense of style and the splendour of dressing up to celebrate the auspicious day.

There's Mei Xing, a bright yellow number framed with dramatic puff sleeves and a pearl-and-rhinestone lined keyhole neckline. The accessories of choice? A pair of jade stud earrings for that pop of contrast, and white pointy-toe pumps for a chic finish.

A comfortable set called Liqiu, is is a qipao top crafted in a velvet and chiffon, finished off with matching trousers. The look is adorned with bright orange feathers at the hem that add that extra allure.

For evening, a brocade shift dress, Qianru, with an eye-catching pleated cape cinched over the neck, is an elegant option. Equal part traditional and modern, the metallic qipao glistens beautifully under the light, and with hair pulled back into a high ponytail, the silk fastening takes centre stage.

Bingqing is a party dress, a sleeveless qipao embellished with pearls in a geometric pattern on the front and back of the bodice. Slip into a pair of pearly white ankle strap heels and end the night on a glam note.
