Elyana, hubby opt for adoption

“I ONLY have one fallopian tube. And that reduces my chances of getting pregnant by 50 per cent,” says singer-actress Elyana Emrizal.

Last year, the mother of one, who found herself pregnant again, had her joy dashed when her growing embryo was lodged in the fallopian tube, making the pregnancy impossible to develop.

“I had an ectopic pregnancy at seven weeks where the fertilised egg attached itself to the fallopian tube. Due to this, I had to have surgery to remove the foetus and the affected tube,” said the 29-year-old in Shah Alam recently.

Elyana who had always wanted a big family of her own, is traumatised by the incident. She is now opting for adoption.

This way, she said, her 6-year-old daughter, Sumayyah Cinta, would have a younger sibling to dote on.

“Since she is starting primary school next year, my husband and I felt that the time is right to go ahead with the adoption process.

And yes, we are open to adopting more than one (baby),” said Elyana, who tied the knot with businessman Khairul Anuar Husin in 2010.

For Elyana, the gender of her future adopted child is not an issue. However, she said, among the criteria that she would be looking at was that the child must come from a poor family.

Meanwhile, on her singing career, Elyana, famously known to perform barefoot onstage, has recently released a new single, Ikhlas Dalam Resah. The tune was uploaded on YouTube a fortnight ago.

With lyrics written by Tanda Hekayat, the song received over 50,000 views, with many had commented on her astounding vocals.

For the artiste, initially, the thought of returning to the studio to record the single was a nerve-racking experience.

“It has been six long years. My last trip to the studio was in 2011 to record the single, Sewaktu Dulu-dulu. So, naturally, my nerves were acting up.

“To ensure a smooth recording process, I had some practice sessions with Tam of Spider (the composer of her new single) before doing the actual recording. That helped me immensely,” said Elyana.

She said after she had her firstborn, she did toy with the idea of returning to the music scene but what stopped her was the fear that she might no longer have fans.

“I recently became active on social media and it was during this time that I discovered that I still have fans. They’ve been wondering where I disappeared to and whether I would return to entertain them again.

“This new single is my gift to my fans whom I’ve been ‘ignoring’ all these years.”

The singer behind hit songs like Niat, Tak Tercapai Akalmu and Diriku Tapak Sulaiman, also went into acting, starring in the 2006 TV series Dunia Baru, Gong and Seriau. Her last acting stint was for drama series Keluarga Karaoke aired in 2015.

“I still get acting offers, even for leading roles. It’s flattering that people still want me in their productions,” said Elyana, who would only consider shorter filming time, such as acting in telemovies or starring in cameo roles.

For Ramadan, she is back at selling Raya cookies. “I sell my grandmother’s samperit every fasting month.

“As I’ve been doing so for years now, I have my regular customers,” said Elyana, who would be celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri in the Klang Valley.
