Comedy Central Stand-Up, Asia! comes to HGH Convention Centre, KL

KUALA LUMPUR: Feeling a little blue lately? Well, be prepared to laugh-out-loud at Comedy Central Stand-Up, Asia! which will take place today and tomorrow, 8pm at the HGH Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

Produced by Comedy Central Asia in collaboration with LOL Events, the Asian original stand-up series returned for the second season, after its successful maiden run in August last year.

The show, which features 16 comedians throughout the two-day event (eight comedians each night), will be filmed in front of a live audience.

Some of the funniest and boldest Asian comedians is slated to take the mic.

The list includes; Paul Ogata (US), Imran Yusuf (UK), Jason Leong (Malaysia), Danny Cho (US/Korea), Sharul Channa (Singapore), Alex Calleja (Philippines), Ben Quinlan (Hong Kong), Papa CJ (India) and Eliot Chang (US).

A household name in the local comedy scene in, and slowly making his on the world stage, Leong lauded the growth of the comic scene in Malaysia over the years.

"The comedy scene here had grown in tandem with the rest of the world. Even the audience have matured well, and they're able to appreciate the jokes more.

“We have some of the best audiences in the world," said Leong when met at the pre-show Press conference in Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur in Jalan Kamunting.

More than anything, the comedian who is a certified physician by profession, said he's honoured to be part of the Comedy Central Asia family.

"It's such a big honour. I feel incredibly lucky as well," said Leong, who started doing stand-up comedy six years ago.

Regular tickets for the single-day admissions are priced between RM50 and RM250, while tickets for Enrich members are priced from RM86 to RM214. All prices are inclusive of ticketing fee and 6% GST. Tickets can be purchased via http://www.ticketpro.com.my/

Meanwhile a 10-episode (half hour each episode) of Comedy Central Stand-Up, Asia! premieres on Aug 22 at 8.55pm on Comedy Central Asia HD (HyppTV channel 609). Subsequently, the show airs every Tuesday.
