M'sian Henry Golding lands major role in Hollywood film alongside Blake Lively, Anna Kendrick

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian television presenter Henry Golding has been cast in a Hollywood film alongside American superstars Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick.

The movie, titled A Simple Favor, is based on Darcey Bell’s book of the same title and will be directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, Ghostbusters), The Hollywood Reporter (www.hollywoodreporter.com) has revealed.

The story revolves around blogger Stephanie’s (Kendrick) efforts to solve the mystery behind the sudden disappearance of her best friend Emily (Lively), who is married to Sean (Golding).

Filming will begin on Aug 14 in Toronto, Canada.

This is not Golding’s first foray into Hollywood filmmaking. The 30-year-old was previously cast in Warner Bros’ film adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s best-selling novel, Crazy Rich Asians, alongside Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh and Constance Wu

Prior to Crazy Rich Asians, Golding, the son of a Sarawakian mother and British father, also starred in The Borneo Incident (2012) alongside Fay Hokulani and Mitch Ross, which told the story of five people documenting their travels from New York to Malaysia. The film, co-produced by Bertcomm and Maverick Media New York, however, has yet to be released.
