Aizat resumes vlogging

Aizat Amdan is happy to share his opinions and activities with fans online

IT’S been awhile since award-winning singer and composer Aizat Amdan released a single (his last was Jangan Menangis). The artiste has been busy with various projects.

He recently released the official music video of the single, with an acoustic version, directed by Al Fahim Mokhtar.

“While the lyrics video of the song garnered more than 1.4 million viewers, we decided to release another video, which is slightly different, so listeners could have a choice,” says the 28-year-old artiste who keeps his fans updated via FB Live and vlogging (video logging).

“When I began vlogging in 2015, it was all for fun as I like to create a variety of content to get closer to fans.”

While Aizat created the content, his brother Ammar helped in the editing. But his sibling later was caught up with other projects, and the vlogging stopped for about a year.

“When I signed a deal with Warner Music Malaysia early this year, the management team suggested that I pick up vlogging again as a promotional tool for my music. So I’m hoping to come up with interesting and useful content to be shared.

“While I find creating content easy for me as I just shoot whenever I find a subject interesting enough, it’s another matter when it comes to editing and packaging it into a more appropriate material to be shared with public. That’s where Ammar’s expertise is needed. He’ll control what isn’t suitable for us to upload onto YouTube,” explains Aizat.

While his vlogging project is a way for him to get closer to fans, Aizat admits that the content will not necessarily be about his activities 24-7, but also a platform for him to share his opinions.

“I remember at one time I shared about how I dealt with my weight, how I was ridiculed at school for being overweight and how I managed to shed a few kilos and how the experience inspired me to write the song Bagai Hidup Semula.

“I hope by sharing some of these stories, I will inspire others out there,” says Aizat, who managed to reduce his jeans size from 44 to 32.

Besides creating his vlog, Aizat is also working on his second single, which he expects to release in November.

Next month and November, the singer will also be touring the peninsula, performing at a few higher learning institutions such as Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (in Durian Tunggal, Melaka), Universiti Sains Malaysia (Penang), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (Parit Raja, Johor), Universiti Utara Malaysia (Sintok, Kedah) and Widad University College (Kuantan, Pahang).

Meanwhile, the singer (who was a contestant for Akademi Fantasia Season 5 in 2007) says that he could not join AF Megastar because of his commitment with Warner.

“Rather than creating problems for any party or even for myself, I had to make the best decision by not auditioning for the reality show.

“Besides, I’m already competing with many others in the industry these days anyway,” says Aizat.

“My favourite contestant this time around has to be Bob (of AF Season 2 fame). He has good vocals. For him to maintain his momentum or go further, I think he needs one killer song”.

Aizat also says that if Bob ever wants a song from him, “it can be worked out”.

Besides singing his own songs, he has also composed for others. Aizat composed Fattah Amin’s Wanita Terakhir, and the latter’s duet with Nur Fazura Sharifuddin, Cinderella.
