Akademi Fantasia Megastar singers in campaign against bullying menace

KUALA LUMPUR: Concerned about the rise of severe bullying cases in schools and colleges, Astro has roped in two of its popular reality talent show’s big names to perform a hard-hitting song that opposes this social evil.

The song, titled Anti-Buli, it will be performed by Akademi Fantasia’s (AF) Season 3 finalist Marsha Milan Londoh and Season 2015 runner-up Syamel Fodzly beginning Oct 1.

Astro Prima channel manager Natasha Hashim said Anti-Buli comes with a music video and it would be screened at the beginning of all its Malay programmes.

"We’re not limiting Anti-Buli to a certain period, because it’s supposed to hit out at bullying any time and any place. Its focus is on the victims of bullying, and is an appeal to the public not to treat the problem lightly,” said Natasha in a recent interview.

The song is written and composed by Edry Abdul Halim of KRU, who was also the AF 2015 principal.

“Besides Anti-Buli, some well-known celebrities who take their stand against bullying, will be featured in the 30-second Vox Pop segment,” said Natasha.

“In addition, two short films which focus on cyber-bullying and bullying in the workplace will also be aired, and these will be followed by a short documentary about bullying, which focuses on its causes and how to curb it,” she said.

Anti-Buli will make its debut at the fifth AF Megastar concert at the Royal Theatre, Shah Alam, at 9pm on Sunday.
