(Showbiz) Mahadzir Lokman discharged from hospital, in good spirits

KUALA LUMPUR: Former newscaster and popular master of ceremonies Datuk Mahadzir Lokman is resting at home, and in good spirits after being discharged from hospital yesterday.

The 60-year-old pioneer newscaster of TV3 who also hosted entertainment programme Melodi and morning talk show Sekapur Sirih, thanked fans and friends for their prayers and well-wishes throughout his two weeks' stay at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) beginning Sept 24.

"Good morning everybody! I want to share with you four beautiful thoughts of life - look back and get experience, look forward and see hope, look around and find reality, and look within and find yourself," he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

Mahadzir uploaded several photos of himself in hospital with relatives and friends, and in all of them, he flashed his unmistakable smile. The veteran broadcaster appeared to be his usual self and occasionally responded to congratulatory messages on his Facebook page.

Meanwhile, Mahadzir's brother Danial Lokman told Berita Harian Online that he still required follow-up treatment from the hospital. "Our family is thankful that Dale (Mahadzir) has shown lots of improvement and we pray for his speedy recovery. Doctors told us he needs a lot of rest."

Danial said doctors were strictly monitoring Mahadzir, who suffered from high blood pressure and diabetes. He thanked the press for updating readers on Mahadzir's latest condition.

Mahadzir was hospitalised after being found unconscious by family members at home on Sept 24.

He began his broadcasting career in TV3 in 1984, presenting the news in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
