(Showbiz) Actor Ungku Ismail backs up actress Tiz Zaqyah's views on Seniman

KUALA LUMPUR: Following the issue between actress Tiz Zaqyah and Malaysian Artistes Association (Seniman) president Zed Zaidi, actor Ungku Ismail Ungku Abdul Aziz took to social media to defend the actress’s right to share her thoughts via her personal Instagram account.

The 31-year-old Ungku Ismail shared a snapshot of news reports quoting Zed chiding Tiz for airing her grouses instead of coming to the association’s meeting.

The image came with a lengthy comment on the issue.

First and foremost, he wrote that it was Tiz’s prerogative to write as she pleases on her social media account, just like how we all do (these days) when we want to get something off our chests.

As Zed had suggested that Tiz should attend the association’s meetings and share her thoughts about Seniman and the welfare of its members, Ungku Ismail wrote: “And so there was always a meeting? What happened in there? Has it still not reach any resolution to the industry builder? What happened to our very inflexible wages, unvarying working hours, rights and protections from fraud dealers and potential failure?”

“Mana hak waktu kerja, hak pendapatan yang berpatutan, skala kerja, dan lain lain. Macam macam dah disuarakan dari dulu, tetapi tetap begini. Kebanyakkan artis terima sahaja dan redha dengan keadaan ini...,” he wrote.

(Has there been any resolution to our minimum working hours, reasonable fee, etc? Many things have been brought up before, but nothing good has come out of it. Most artistes have given up hope to expect any changes to be facilitated by the association...”)
