'It looks like Ayah Pin's fortress'

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Tiz Zaqyah posted a video on her Instagram account showing her disappointment toward the Hari Raya Aidilfitri decorations at Suria KLCC.

In the caption of the posting, which has gone viral, Tiz wrote that she noticed an increasing number of people expressing dissatisfaction with the decorations.

"Not only among artists, designers, and architects, but it seems like many others are also disappointed. With all the creative resources we have, is this the result?

"A for effort, but is there even any effort? We're terribly sorry, but it's quite an eyesore. It's nothing like what we expected at all. We can't even tell what it's supposed to represent.

"Watch till the end; that's a photo of me at KLCC in front of the CNY2022 (Chinese New Year) decoration. See the difference? EVEN I STOPPED AND TOOK PHOTOS," she wrote in her Instagram caption.

Meanwhile, in the video, she said: "I feel sad because when I see this Raya decoration, it's so bad. Even the foreigners (tourists) ask what it is. Is it a spaceship or what?"

Netizens shared the celebrity's disappointment. They said those responsible did not put any effort in ushering Ramadan, which began on Tuesday and Aidilfitri which slated next month. They said what they saw at the landmark did not have the equal standards of the festive decorations seen a the same premises during other festivals.

"This is not the first time @suriaklccmall has done a mediocre decoration. Last year, I commented that they used zinc roofs for village houses. They decorate grandly for other festivals," said user @artmarketmalaysia.

"Can make a traditional village house, place some ketupat, set up a large pot outside like dodol and stick up oil lamps and it would be okay. That's it. Less is more. But this one, it's like Ayah Pin's fortress," commented @myasyamyra.
