Singer-actress Ayda Jebat cancels flight home to visit cancer-stricken young fan in Singapore

KUALA LUMPUR: She was due to fly home from Singapore on Sunday but award-winning singer Ayda Jebat decided to fulfil the dreams of a young Singaporean fan instead.

Hanez Nabila, 5, a patient at KK Women's and Children's Hospital in Bukit Timah received a surprise visit from Ayda thanks to the young girl’s relative who had contacted the Pencuri Hati hitmaker via Instagram.

"I was informed about Hanez's condition, and that she had been a fan since she was 3 and knew all of my songs," said the 25-year-old artiste in a recent news report.

"Without much thought, I instantly decided to forgo my flight and meet Hanez personally to show my heartfelt thanks."

Coincidentally, Hanez suffers from heart cancer, the same condition Ayda's character Laila Safitri in the upcoming film Pinjamkan Hatiku is suffering from.

"My heart goes out to her and thinking about this young child having to battle cancer is just heartbreaking for me.

"When I met her, I had to hold back my tears and focus on cheering her up as best as I could," said Ayda who was in the island republic to perform at the Anugerah Planet Muzik 2017 last Saturday.

The singer who opened the awards show performing Nakal Nakal Nakal, didn’t go home empty-handed. She was announced the recipient of Social Media Icon award.

Pinjamkan Hatiku which will release in cinemas on Nov 30 also stars Shaheizy Sam and Farid Kamil.
