Rock on with Prime Domestic and XPDC concert

KUALA LUMPUR: Local rock band Prime Domestic and heavy metal outfit XPDC are collaborating for a show titled Konsert Public Distortion 2017 on December 9.

The concert will be held at Oasis Square in the commercial centre of Oasis Damansara, Petaling Jaya, which can accommodate 5,000 people.

The popular local bands are expected to deliver a memorable experience during the three-hour show, which starts at 9pm.

Prime Domestic, headed by guitarist Joe, features singer Aweera, guitarist Hillary Ang, bassist Fauzi and drummer Ainoll, while XPDC consists of Izo on guitar, Ali on vocals, Eddie on bass guitar and Lola on drums.

In a recent news report by Harian Metro Online, Joe said that the showcase will also feature a garden concept as reflected by the immediate surroundings of the venue.

“The swimming pool inside will be dried out for the audience to enjoy the concert in a sort of rock garden style.”

“There’s a roof top too that will provide a casual space suitable for families and it’s safely enclosed by a fence,” he was reported to have said.

Joe added that no one has so far thought of utilising the location for a rock concert. The former Wings guitarist said that he and concert organiser J&J Rochestra, as well as Life Scape, want to turn the area into a veritable ‘town of rock’.

On the upcoming concert’s setlist, Joe said that Prime Domestic will perform songs from the band’s debut album, Prima Domestika.

“I actually prefer to keep it a secret so that fans will be surprised by the setlist on the day itself. What’s certain is that no one will be bored,” he said.

On the matter of performing Wings’ tunes, Joe said: “The fans know who composed which tracks in the albums and I have the right to play those songs.”

Joe promised that the concert would be a high-quality experience with no compromises made on the sound system and lighting aspects.

“I’m working with professionals who’ve been with me for the past 15 years and they really know their stuff.”

The guitarist also took the initiative to collaborate with the Grab ride-hailing service in order to make it convenient for fans to get to the venue and receive discounts as well.

He said that those who drive will not have to worry either since the location has over 4,000 parking bays available.

In the news report, Ali said that XPDC was honoured to be chosen by Prime Domestic for this special concert.

“The last time we were in town for a show was early last year at Dataran Merdeka. XPDC has been very busy playing in shows outside of KL, including Sabah and Sarawak.”

“So we’ll definitely use this opportunity to make sure that fans who turn up really enjoy themselves and have a good rocking time,” he said of Konsert Public Distortion 2017, which apparently costs RM500,000 to produce.
