Lady Killers to spice up Kiwi party

ABEVY of entertainers will be revving up the annual New Zealand Annual Dinner and Dance at Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur this Saturday.

Leading the pack is popular all-women trio Lady Killers, who are known for their unique cross-genre performances ranging from pop, rhythm and blues, jazz, country, as well as rock and roll.

This will be their fourth appearance at the annual dinner organised by the Malaysia-New Zealand Chambers of Commerce (MNZCC).

MNZCC chairman Richard Tankersley said a member of the Lady Killers, Jackie Clarke, would be the host for the night.

Tankersley said the group would be joined by guest artiste Annie Crumer, who is one of New Zealand’s popular singer-songwriter.

“We have picked Crumer as our special guest artiste because of her voice, alternately husky and soaring, which sets her apart from other vocalists.

“This year, we are bringing in Kiwi’s own ‘keyboardist extraordinaire’, Stephen Small, who
will amaze our guests with his skills.

“The night will also be a celebration of our 25th anniversary here in Malaysia and I’m so excited to see our performers represent Kiwi’s speciality and charm the crowd with their amazing voices,” he told the New Straits Times.

He said the aim of the dinner was to celebrate the relationship between Malaysia and New Zealand, as well as to boost ties between dignitaries and expatriates.

Tankersley said the gala, which is a popular annual event since 2002, was expected to attract 800 people.

Besides the performances,
partygoers will be feted to a
four-course dinner with Kiwi fine food and wine, as well as lucky draws.

Those expected to attend the event include International Trade and Industry Ministry Deputy Secretary General Datuk Isham Ishak, New Zealand High Commissioner to Malaysia Dr John Subritzky and Malaysian Investment Development Authority chief executive officer Datuk Azman Mahmud.

Sponsors and supporters include Malaysia Airlines, Dialog Group Bhd, Fonterra Promex, New Zealand Unlimited, Heineken, Sharing-La Hotel, Promac, Datacom Southeast Asia (M) Sdn Bhd and Zenne.
