Funnyman Harith Iskander receives award from Finnish Ambassador

KUALA LUMPUR: Celebrated comedian Harith Iskander received an award from the Finnish Ambassador to Malaysia, Petri Puhakka yesterday.

According to a news report by Bernama, the award was presented to him in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of Finland’s Independence Day celebrations at a hotel, here.

Honoured for the recognition, Harith said the award would serve as a catalyst to continue his involvement in the entertainment industry.

“This award is beyond my expectations… I am very grateful and appreciative,” said the 51-year-old who has almost 30 years of experience in the world of solo comedy.

“InsyaAllah, the ‘Funniest Person in the World 2018’ will be held in this country and I will be involved in the competition,” he told reporters after receiving the award.

Last year, Harith made headlines worldwide when he won Laugh Factory’s Funniest Person In The World competition held in Finland’s Hullu Poro Arena in Levi, Lapland, taking home a cash prize of US$100,000 (about RM440,000).
