(Showbiz) Despacito tops list of most-watched music videos on YouTube in Malaysia this year

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite (or perhaps due to) being banned for a while by local authorities from receiving airtime on several local radio stations, Luis Fonci Despacito (featuring Daddy Yankee) tops the list of most-watched music videos on YouTube in Malaysia this year.

The video-sharing platform has recently revealed the 10 most-watched videos on its channel here in 2017.

The second most-viewed music video is the official video for Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You.

Local act Projector Band’s official lyric video for Aisyah comes out at the third place, and followed by the lyric video of Something Just Like This by The Chainsmokers & Coldplay.

At fifth place is another Malaysian band, Floor 88, for the official music video of its hit Zalikha. Armada’s Asal Kau Bahagia’s official lyric video came in next.

At No. 7 is the official video of That’s What I Like by Bruno Mars, followed by Stranger In The North by Namewee (featuring Leehom Wang).

Charlie Puth’s Attention came in at No. 9 and Ismail Izzani’s official music video with lyric for Sabar rounds it up at No. 10.

Each year, YouTube will look back at videos which have gone viral and become trending in Malaysia throughout the year.

The list is based on the time spent by viewers in Malaysia who had watched, shared, commented, and liked the videos.
