KUALA LUMPUR: Rock queen Ella always gives fans a "rocking good time", and fashion designer Hatta Dolmat is a staunch supporter, too.
However, fashion critic Hatta has one grouse against Ella's recent, full-house show at the prestigious Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP) in KLCC, Jalan Ampang - her "snakey" outfit.
"I've nothing but great respect for Ella, but her dress just didn't rock at the two-night show. It was so python-like, it didn't suit her and didn't reflect her vibrant, uplifting personality at all, sorry!" commented Hatta on Instagram recently.
Fortunately, his constructive criticism of Ella's outfit did not make fans see red. In fact, many of them agreed that it did not suit the rock legend.
"I really miss Ella's good old white tees and black jackets. Whatever happened to the Ella we've grown up with?" said a fan identified only as Ezad.
"I don't have a problem with her dress, but it's certainly unusual for Ella. Perhaps, Hatta can sponsor her outfits next time!" said another fan, Loveomey.
Ella performed at the DFP with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) on Dec 2 and 3, and her concert was titled Ella Live With The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, A Rock Queen's Journey.
The concert was held specially to celebrate the singer's 30th anniversary of her musical career.
