Tourism efforts by actor Fizz Fairuz leads to Datukship

KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Fizz Fairuz’s endeavours to promote his home state has led to recognition by the Sultan of Pahang himself.

The 39-year-old, whose real name is Mohd Fairuz Zainal Abidin, was bestowed with the Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP) award yesterday which carries the title Datuk.

In a Bernama news report, he said: "I’m a native of Raub. Perhaps people are unaware of this but I have done a lot of work to promote tourism and the culture of Pahang aside from being a JPJ (Road Transport Department) Pahang icon. I hope people understand why I was given this recognition.”

Fizz, who is married to actress Almy Nadia, added that his extensive tourism enterprises in his birth state were carried out through his company, Rain Maker Creation Sdn Bhd.

The actor was one of 197 recipients of state awards and medals in conjunction with the Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah's 87th birthday.

Tengku Datuk Nor Akmar Sultan Abu Bakar, the sister to Sultan Ahmad Shah, headed the list and was among 21 individuals to be conferred with the Sri Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (SSAP) award, which carries the title Datuk Seri.

The awards and medals were conferred by the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah, on behalf of Sultan Ahmad Shah, at Istana Abu Bakar in Pekan, Pahang.
