Anuar Zain overcomes performing phobia

AFTER losing his voice early last year, singer Anuar Zain had no choice but to cancel three big singing gigs, including a concert in Singapore.

But, even after he got his voice back months later, the singer developed a phobia of performing on major stages.

“What went through my mind back then was, ‘What if I lose my voice again after agreeing to perform for so many people?’”

Last year proved to be a tough year for Anuar as he had to work on his confidence again and overcome his phobia.

However, the younger brother of singer Ziana Zain said he had never felt better and was pumped up to make it up to his fans.

In December, Anuar, 47, conquered his fears when he performed at Konsert Emoji at UiTM Shah Alam’s Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor.

A year ago, Anuar shocked fans when he cancelled his much-hyped Yonder Music Live Series’s By The Lake: Anuar Zain & You solo concert at the last minute due to laryngitis.

“This year, I am returning in full force. I will not allow the past to hold me back. I am also paying closer attention to my health,” the bachelor said.

He is gearing up for his next singing endeavour, the Bunga Citra Lestari, Anuar Zain & Yuka Kharisma Live In Concert, which will be held at Plenary Hall at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on April 28.

The Sedetik Lebih hitmaker said after this concert, he had several more live performances lined up.

Tickets for the April 28 concert are priced between RM188 and RM2,199, and available at www.yuka.com.my and www.tickethotline.com.my. For details, go to www.yuka.com.my.
