'Borak Kopitiam' a godsend for Sarah

Since leaving Season 1 of TV3’s Clever Girl, Sarah Adiba Yussof has spent a year hosting the station’s crime documentary, 999.

Presenting news on police investigations in the studio and on the ground, the Sabah lass at first feared seeing bodies and injured people.

Her days of hosting 999 are finally over.

She is now one of the eight co-hosts on TV3’s new talk show, Borak Kopitiam, which will be aired every Friday to Sunday from 7am to 9am.

999 was tough and challenging, but I’m grateful for the experience. I love learning about police investigations and the show taught me a lot about the boys in blue,” she said at the launch of Borak Kopitiam at Seri Pentas, Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya recently.

Borak Kopitiam is a godsend. I was required to be serious on 999, but I can be myself in this new talk show as the people involved in it are cool and fun.”

Sarah’s “knowledgeable and funny” co-hosts are Astro On Air’s Hefny Sahad, Hot FM’s Haziq Hussni, Kool FM’s Muaz Mohamad, Zack Merican, Fify Azmi, Dayah Bakar and Fiona Cheong.

“With the exception of Hefny, Haziq and Muaz, our team is pretty new and, so, I can bond with them. This show focuses on youth and lifestyle,” said Sarah, who started emceeing while studying in Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Seri Iskandar, Perak.

What interests her most is the Dapur Kalut segment on Saturdays.

“I’m not a good cook, but I love cooking segments that introduce you to Malaysians with exciting, original recipes.

“As the show is very informal, all of us will get to lend the cooks a hand, and gain useful experience.”

Sarah also loves the Kita Juara segment on Sundays, where national sportsmen and sportswomen are interviewed.

“I’m looking forward to interviewing mixed martial arts and muay Thai practitioners as I was a muay Thai exponent during my university days.

“I also hope to meet and learn more about Datuk Lee Chong Wei and Datuk Nicol David.”

While she hopes to host iconic documentaries like Majalah 3, Misteri Nusantara and Jejak Rasul someday, Sarah views her stint in Borak Kopitiam as “tailor-made for Clever Girls”.

Borak Kopitiam is a feast of general knowledge.

“It allows me to make use of what I’ve learnt in Clever Girl, and for a new host, it’s a good training ground since it doesn’t limit me to a subject.”
