#Showbiz: K-Pop group WINNER propels good energy of YG Family

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular K-Pop quartet WINNER wants to take things slow to expand, mature musically and to show growth.

According to Soompi, a recent interview with South Korea’s Joy News 24 saw WINNER commenting positively on fellow YG Entertainment labelmates BigBang and iKON.

Its group leader Seungyoon said: “There is a lot of pressure. BigBang enlisted in the military and instead of filling in their place, I think that we shouldn’t cause trouble on the path they’ve paved.”

He added: “There are many singers who grow without being happy or sad about results, who don’t reach massive success, or get to No. 1. I think it’s the most important to slowly expand our territory and mature our music. BigBang received lots of love because they didn’t stay in one place and grew. They won through their music, so I want to follow their path. Our goal is to show growth.”

Fellow bandmate Mino said: “Instead of the pressure of filling in BigBang’s vacancy, we want to propel the good energy of YG Family. iKON and BigBang succeeded. When ‘Really Really’ did well, iKON congratulated us and I was happy that iKON recently did well. B.I said, ‘This album’s energy is good,’ and we’re helping each other that way.”

WINNER revealed that its members had dreamed of communicating with their fans while working on their latest and sophomore album “EVERYD4Y”.

YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk had also promised WINNER fans that he’ll be providing more opportunities for fans to see the K-Pop outfit.

The group, which had been active since 2014, had also shared: “We made this album with the spirit that we’ll work hard during promotions, and that we’ll work hard every day. We’re preparing many things such as fan meetings and concerts. We think there will be more opportunities to meet our fans this time than the total of all of our promotions till now. We want to get closer while promoting so that the members and fans can be happy.”

WINNER’s album “EVERYD4Y”, including its title track “Everyday”, was released on Wednesday. It became the group’s first certified all-kill by peaking at No. 1 on all six of South Korea’s major realtime music charts, in addition to topping the iChart.
