#Showbiz: K-pop group Twice tops Billboard chart for first time

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular female K-pop group Twice has taken the No.1 spot on the Billboard album chart for the first time with its latest album, With You-th.

The 9-member music outfit's six-song EP made its debut at No.1 on the Billboard 200 chart, according to a recent report from the music publication.

Billboard added that the group's position was mirrored by 95,000 sales of its new album in the United States in the week ending Feb 29.

Of the amount, 90,000 copies were accumulated via purchases of physical copies, which included 14 collectible variations on CD and three vinyl LP versions, according to tracking service Luminate.

With You-th, which was released on Feb 23, also garnered 6.3 million streams.

This makes the mini-album the biggest US sales week of any album in 2024, even for non-Korean artistes.

Twice is also the third K-pop girl group to ever top the Billboard 200 chart to date.

The previous female K-pop groups to peak at No.1 were BlackPink with Born Pink and NewJeans with Get Up.
