#Showbiz: Dua Lipa confirms KL stop next month, though regrets hurtful jokes by Malaysians

KUALA LUMPUR: British-Albanian singer-songwriter Dua Lipa will definitely be in town on May 3 as part of The Self-Titled Tour.

The singer's record label Dua Lipa Limited today confirmed that there was no change to her scheduled performance, and Lipa will entertain fans at KL Live, Life Centre here at 7.30pm.

On another note, Lipa has expressed disappointment over the hurtful jokes made by a handful of Malaysian Netizens last month, in a recent interview with fashion magazine L'Officiel.

“It was actually quite mean on their behalf because obviously I’m not talking in Malay,” she said in the interview.

“I speak another language as well, and the language that I speak with my parents is my heritage. I would like that to be respected.”

Fans had pleaded with Lipa not to cancel her show in KL Live after she was mocked for using the word “babi” on her Instagram posting last month.

She explained that it was a term of endearment for her father in the Albanian language, and she was merely greeting him on his birthday.

Most Malaysians promptly denounced the rude Netizens, and apologised on behalf of them.
