#Showbiz: Singer-turned-actress Kayda Aziz gets acting tips from Tipah

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Kayda Aziz has started to dabble in acting.

For her debut on the small screen via drama series Mr Grey, the 27-year-old who plays and antagonistic character seek some pointers from her mother, singer Datuk Sheila Majid.

For the uninitiated, Sheila played Tipah in the hit 1985 movie Ali Setan alongside the late Azmil Mustapha, Ogy Ahmad Daud and Ebby Saiful.

And playing an antagonist is not easy, as Kayda Aziz has found out.

The hip hop and R&B artiste who recently released her debut album titled Love For No Reason said: “Initially, it was an unnerving experience to play this arrogant, egotistical and full of jealousy Nadine.”

“I find the character to be very challenging,” said the artiste newcomer to the acting scene.

But Kayda admitted how lucky she was to have Sheila who was never short at giving her all the encouragement she needed.

“Mum gave me some pointers, based on her experience playing Tipah. She also told me to play with facial expressions, apart from just mouthing out the dialogue,” said Kayda who also added that her mother was also her most honest critic.

Kayda said that her mother had always been her most staunch supporters, always pushing her to try out other artistic endeavours including acting.

Besides Kayda, Mr Grey features Fendy Bakry, Eyra Hazali, Shah Iskandar, Lisdawati, Gambit Saifullah, Scha Elinnea and Nabil Aqil in the cast.
