#Showbiz: 'I was scared for my life!' - Alif Satar on spine-chilling experience on set of The Hantus

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actor-singer-TV host Alif Satar encountered a scary episode while on the set of comedy-thriller telemovie The Hantus.

It happened in the wee hours of the morning when the crew was filming somewhere in Hulu Langat, early this year.

“The scene involved Faizal Hussein and I in a car, driving to our destination.

“The car that we rode in was an old yellow Volkswagen because the telemovie was partly inspired by the popular ghost story Volkswagen Kuning.

“We were on the road and the camera crew was right behind our vehicle. But out of a sudden, the car accelerated on its own. Faizal hit the brakes but to no avail. It continued to build up speed.

“What made it even spookier was that the scene was in a remote area and the roads were completely dark so we couldn’t really see clearly what lied ahead,” shared Alif when met after the exclusive screening of The Hantus at MaTiC (Malaysian Tourism Centre), recently.

“We started panicking as we couldn’t figure out how to stop the car. Even the crew was wondering why we were driving at extra speed and wouldn’t stop.

“I was scared for my life! I thought the car was possessed, it felt like we were actually living out a scene from the Volkswagen Kuning ghost story,” he said.

Eventually, Faizal tried turning off the engine and the car eventually stopped. It was only later that they found out the cause of it - a technical glitch in the car’s engine.

Produced by actor-comedian Nabil Ahmad, The Hantus stars Khatijah Tan and Hannah Delisha. It is inspired by popular ghost stories including the Volkswagen Kuning, Hantu Kak Limah and the mystery of Mimaland.
