KUALA LUMPUR: Rumours about drama producer Datuk A. Aida being in love with a younger man have finally been confirmed when a video of young actor Wan Ariff Aziz proposing to her went viral recently.
The video shows the pair having dinner at a Middle Eastern restaurant before Wan Ariff, 29, surprised Aida, 47, by presenting her a ring.
“He invited me out for dinner and I didn’t suspect anything unusual, until one of his friends came from behind with a guitar and started singing a song, and Ariff’s sibling started recording a video of us then,” said Aida in a news report.
“Honestly, I’m touched by the gesture,” revealed Aida whose full name is Zaidah Awang.
She added that Ariff had started preparing for their big day without letting her in on it.
“He had already taken care of the marriage documentation process,” said Aida.
Their wedding reception is expected to be held on April 20 next year at her holiday home in Janda Baik, Pahang.
The couple have known each other for three years, but only became close two months ago when Ariff was involved in A. Aida Productions’ latest film Ratu Kala Jengking: Puteri Keranda which is set for a 2019 screening.
Aida has married three times before, including one with singer Ameng (of the band Spring). She has three children from two of her marriages.
