#Showbiz: 'I'm not vengeful' - Ziana Zain

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular singer Ziana Zain is glad that her divorce proceedings have concluded smoothly.

The 50-year-old artiste who was divorced from her former husband Armin Zahrin Ahmad Zambri, 53, with a single “talak” today said she had “completely forgiven him”.

“I’m not vengeful, I don’t keep grudges,” she said in a news report today.

“Thank God our case ended without any problems.”

Ziana’s divorce took place at 2.48pm at the Syariah Lower Court in Shah Alam.

She was accompanied by her younger brother and fellow singer Anuar Zain throughout the proceedings.

“My patience has been rewarded. May we have better days to come,” she said while shedding some tears.

Anuar, on behalf of their family, thanked fans, friends and well-wishers who had been giving moral support to Ziana.

“We want to thank everyone for the love, support and prayers,” he said.

Ziana and Armin tied the knot on May 9, 1998, and have four children — Muhammad Aiman, 18, Muhammad Ammar, 14, and nine-year-old fraternal twins Muhammad Ariel and Siti Nur Kaseh.

On May 15, Armin was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt to his son.

Armin is alleged to have used a cane to cause cuts and bruises on his son’s arms at their house in Denai Alam, Shah Alam on Feb 24.

He was initially charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum 10 years’ imprisonment or with a fine or whipping, or any two of the punishments on conviction, before the charge was amended to Section 324 read with 326A of the Penal Code.

If convicted, the former air steward can be punished with a jail term which may extend to a year, or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.
