#Showbiz: Tiara dreams of showcasing Ola Bola The Musical to Dr M

KUALA LUMPUR: Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina is hopeful that Ola Bola The Musical gets a second run at Istana Budaya (IB).

The 50-year-old who is also the musical’s producer and director said that it was not so much for its sentimental value, but with a season 2, she was hopeful that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad might just come and catch the show.

“Ola Bola is a project that is very close to my heart since it is my first ever theatre I directed. So, should the musical make a return for a second season, I would like the Prime Minister to attend the show.

“It’s a patriotic story about us. The spirit of unity that it portrays is something that’s truly outstanding. It would be an honour to present the musical once more, with Tun Mahathir sitting in the audience,” she said in a recent news report.

No word yet whether Ola Bola Musical will get a second run at IB, but from the overwhelming response received during their debut run in February and March, it’s return may just be much-awaited.

The musical is based on Chiu Keng Guan’s 2016 blockbuster Ola Bola, about the national footballers’ battle to enter the 1980 Olympics in Moscow.
