#Showbiz: No Hollywood love for SRK?

KUALA LUMPUR: Bollywood actor Datuk Shah Rukh Khan may have a face that is recognised the world over and his films are loved by international fans as well.

But while his fellow Indian actors, such as Priyanka Chopra, Irrfan Khan, Anupam Kher and Amitabh Bachchan, have been successfully featured in western films, the 53-year-old superstar has yet to venture into Hollywood.

The question of heading to Tinseltown is not a new one, so when he was recently queried on the matter, the actor, also dubbed SRK or King Khan by fans, simply said that he had never been offered a role there.

In an interview in the Economic Times, the actor, who is currently working on his latest film Zero, explained in a witty fashion that: “They have to look at me, I can’t look at them. I look at the moon everyday but I don’t reach for it.”

Following that with a further quip, he said: “I don’t even know if I am good enough to do it. I think my English is a little weak.”

Jokes aside, SRK elaborated that he would prefer to focus on developing Bollywood as a formidable western counterpart to Hollywood instead.

He said: “My own attempt is to make Indian films watched at that level. Again, not taking away from the greatness of anything that others have achieved, I’d like Tom Cruise to say one day that ‘I’ve been given a chance in a Hindi film’. Man, that will be wonderful. Christopher Nolan would say that there is a producer in India who wants him to make a film. Inshallah, that will happen.”
