#Showbiz: After 'Bobo', Aliff Syukri fears brickbats might follow his next song

KUALA LUMPUR: The proverb “once bitten, twice shy” may apply to cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman as his last single Bobo Di Mana received heavy backlash.

But being a risk-taker, he plans to come out with another single soon, and is asking for feedback from Netizens whether he should go ahead or otherwise.

In an Instagram post yesterday, Aliff said: “I’m pretty nervous about releasing this new single. I recorded it three months before Bobo with a composer based in Europe, who remarked I had a good tone but needed more training.”

Aliff added: “I didn’t expect Bobo would be panned, this has discouraged me a little. Nevertheless, I love singing and I hope to hear your feedback on whether I should release it. Thanks!”

His fans and followers responded and felt that he should go ahead with his new song.

“Go for it Datuk. Don’t be afraid to fail. If you think your song sounds good, do release it,” said Nurul.

“Don’t worry Datuk. If you sing from the heart, there will definitely be people who will buy it,” said Feeza.

“Do what you think is right Datuk. Don’t be afraid of detractors,” said Selempang Sutera.

“Perhaps you could sing in English, Datuk. If you have a good composer who has helped you, I’m sure there will be those who will like your song,” said Naqiu.

On Sept 5, Aliff’s song Bobo was slammed by Netizens because of the suggestive content of the saucy lyric video which sees him performing with fellow cosmetics entrepreneur Nur Sajat and sultry Indonesian dangdut singer Lucinta Luna.

Irate Netizens claimed that the lyrics and performances were pornographic in nature and would only corrupt the minds of viewers, especially children.

While the lyric video may have received more than 197,000 dislikes on Aliff’s TV Terlajak Laris channel on YouTube, it garnered over 2.4 million views online and trended at No. 1 on YouTube for that month.
