KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Fasha Sandha got engaged to fellow actor Aidil Aziz this evening in a closed ceremony here in Ampang.
The engagement ceremony, attended by family members and close friends, was held in a moderate fashion in accordance with the wishes of both families.
Held after Asar prayers, the event saw Aidil’s side presenting three trays of hantaran while Fasha’s side reciprocated with five. Among the items presented were an engagement ring, perfume and clothing.
The ring was secured on Fasha’s finger by Aidil’s mother Rokkiah Md Noor in the presence of Aidil’s father Abdul Aziz Ishak and family members who had travelled from Rembau. Fasha’s mother Hatijah Tehman was also present with her family to bear witness to the ceremony.
In a statement released to the Press today, Fasha said that the engagement ceremony was a very special occasion for her personally since she did not have one prior to her last marriage.
“I hope to get to know Aidil much better after the engagement. I’m very grateful that Aidil and his family have accepted me and my children with open arms and I hope that this engagement will hold strong until our marriage,” she said.
The 34-year-old artiste who won Best Actress (Drama) award at last year’s Anugerah Skrin, married entrepreneur Rizal Ashram Ramli on April 27, 2012. They divorced on Jan 20, 2016. The union resulted in two children, Putra Rayfal, 5, and Putri Raysha Jemyma, 4.
Fasha, who will begin filming for TV3 drama series Semua Salahku soon, added that her status as a divorcee had never been a stumbling block for her to re-marry as long as her future husband could accept and love her children too.
“Pak Ngah (as she fondly calls Aidil) had proposed to me on June 21 and I took a few months to think about it. I was worried and in two minds about it at first. But I saw the good qualities that Aidil possessed. He is also very close to my children from the very beginning when I introduced him to them. I was attracted to him since he made the effort and took the initiative to really get to know my children by spending time with them and won them over. Aidil is also very respectful towards my parents and family,” she said.
Fasha got to know the 31-year-old artiste, whose full name is Mohd Aidil Abdul Aziz, late last year after they were involved in the same sitcom. From then on, they started getting closer and by the middle of this year the two were already considered an item.
Aidil, who is also a businessman, said a year spending time with Fasha was enough to convince him that she was the one.
“I love her maternal instincts and Fasha always appreciates everyone around her. Her modest behaviour makes her easily loved by many including me and my family. I’d be lying if I said that there weren’t any looming questions or assumptions since I’m just a fairly new actor still building a name for myself, while Fasha has such a large profile to her name already as an established actress in Malaysia,” he said.
He added: “But I believe that the matter of ‘jodoh’ is not for us to discuss and to question. If it is written for me to be with her then I accept that fate. So whatever negative perception or opinions that others may have is not something that I think about. My main concern now is to work hard to further stabilise myself in order to build a family with Fasha and her two children for when we get married later. I see this time during the engagement as a phase of readying myself to lead a family through the aspects of religion, finances, mental state and also tackling whatever challenges the future may hold.”
“God willing, I won’t see any problems since my relationship with Fasha is based on sincerity, honesty between us and constant communication in rectifying anything that’s lacking or wrong.
Thank God, I see this as a very good development for the two of us before we actually tie the knot eventually,” said the actor of Cinta Lemon Madu and Villa Ghazara which are currently airing on TV3.
