#Showbiz: Michelle Yeoh and Henry Golding ecstatic over Crazy Rich Asians' Golden Globes nominations

KUALA LUMPUR: Crazy Rich Asians’ hot streak continues after it garnered not one but two Golden Globes nominations!

According to news reports, the romantic comedy which featured an all-Asian cast was nominated for Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical). Its lead actress Constance Wu, 36, who delivered a buoyant portrayal of New York professor Rachel Chu, also earned a Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical nomination.

Her Malaysian-born co-stars Henry Golding, 31, and Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh, 56, who played Nick Young and Eleanor Young took to social media to express their excitement over the good news.

In a post via Instagram, Golding uploaded a photo of the entire cast at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles back in August and wrote: “What a phenomenal feeling, nominated for Golden Globes best motion picture – our special collaboration to bring this story to the screen fought the good fight for diversity! So proud and congrats to all!”

Yeoh on the other hand thanked supporters who helped make the film a success through an Instagram entry.

“To my fantastic CRA family around the world! We are part of history! Bravo! Thank q Thank q to everyone who helped in any way to make this happen!”

In another news report, Yeoh said: “I think this is the first time an all-Asian cast movie has been nominated for Best Picture at the Golden Globes."

She added: “So thank you and we’re so proud to be a part of history. And congratulations to Constance for getting a nomination, as well!”

Golding also dedicated a post to Chu, his on-screen love interest, and congratulated her on the nomination.

“She continues to fly the flag for many causes but most of all as a pillar of strength for young Asian actresses around the world,” he wrote in the Instagram post.
