#Showbiz: Only 'three spoons of rice' for Aishah now

KUALA LUMPUR: Having lost a significant amount of weight and inches this year, singer Wan Aishah Wan Ariffin reveals that she also maintains her reduced frame by eating much less now.

“After going through the bariatric surgery, I can only consume food in very small portions. If I take more than three spoons of rice during one meal, for example, I’d be panting for breath. Other delicacies with simillar effects include tripes,” said Aishah during the launch of her latest single, Malar, and its music video at Red Box Karaoke in The Gardens Mall yesterday.

The champion of Gegar Vaganza Season 4 opted for the procedure which involved the removal of a segment of her stomach earlier this year due to the weight problem she had, which had also been affecting her knees.

After almost ten months, the 53-year-old crooner of the song, Janji Manismu, had shed off 24 kilograms and 10 inches (25cm) from around her waist.

“Besides having a smaller figure now, I also noticed how it has also improved my vocals and stamina, which is definitely a bonus for a performer like me,” said Aishah, who added that she is aiming to lose another 16 kilograms to achieve her ideal weight.

Meanwhile, Aishah said that the new song was specially dedicated to her fans who had been supporting her throughout her 31-year career in show business.

The song, composed and written by singer-songwriter Hazami and arranged by Helen Yap, was produced by Cloudworks Entertainment. Malay is available on digital music platforms such as iTunes, Joox, Spotify and Deezer.
