#Showbiz: One final show for Altimet

LOCAL music fans may have heard it for quite sometime that rapper and songwriter Altimet has been meaning to quit singing.

A few months ago, he finally made it official on his Instagram that he had recorded his final song.

The 40-year-old said that he is wrapping up his rapping days to focus on other endeavours.

He captioned a photo on his IG with: “Hari last aku kat dalam bilik ni sebagai seorang rapper.” (Today is my last day in this room as a rapper.)

“Kalau dengar lagu aku lepas ni, tu bukan rakaman baru, tapi dah lama ada dalam hard drive aku. (If you hear my songs after this, they are not new material, but ones that have been sitting in my hard drive for far too long).”

However, the artiste, whose real name is Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, says he will continue to compose songs.

Altimet has been reported to have shared his plans of exploring other creative areas which include producing, writing and composing tunes for fellow artistes.

As a parting gift to fans, Altimet released his fifth and final studio album last month.

The album, titled O, was released both digitally and physically on Dec 21. It comprises 13 tracks, 12 of which feature other acts such as Aizat Amdan, Taufik Batisah, Hazama, SonaOne and DJ Fuzz.

Altimet is scheduled to perform at Nescafe Presents The Last Altimet Show on Feb 16 at Dewan Merdeka, Putra World Trade Centre here.

“I initially wanted to wrap up everything before 2018 ended, but as both these (releasing the final album and putting up the swan song show) are huge, both my team and I agreed that more time is needed to prepare everything well, instead of rushing just to beat the time,” he says.

FIVE ALBUMS

Altimet recently announced his final show at Nando’s in 3 Damansara Shopping Mall in Petaling Jaya.

At the concert, which will see him performing at least a track from each of his five albums, fans will also get to see other artistes sharing the stage with him such as Awi Rafael, Adib Nahar and DJ Fuzz.

“It’ll be great to perform at this final performance especially with those whom I’ve had the pleasure to collaborate with in the past. I’ve also asked Aizat and Tomok, but I have yet to receive confirmation from them,” he says.

Asked if he will be performing with other members of Teh Tarik Crew, Altimet says it’s not possible as one of the quartet, Mizz Nina, has stopped singing for good.

PHENOMENAL YEAR

Meanwhile, Altimet admits that 2018 has been a phenomenal year, what with winning Best Performance award at TV3’s Anugerah Juara Lagu 32.

His hit single Bunga taken off his album Air has garnered more than 8.8 million views since its release last March. The song is also a finalist at the upcoming AJL33.

However, Altimet will not be performing at the annual song competition. The all-girl group De Fam has been chosen to perform instead.

Tickets for his final showdown are priced at RM59 (Early Bird), RM79 (Pre-Sale) and RM109 (at the door) each. Limited Early Bird tickets can be purchased at altimet.com.my/Concert.
