SHAH ALAM: Irish singer Shane Filan of Westlife gave some 10,000 fans an entertaining evening at a special outdoor concert today.

It was the Elmina Lakeside Concert in Elmina Central Park, Sungai Buloh here, at 8pm.

Dressed in a stylish black jacket and silver shirt, the 39-year-old artiste serenaded fans for an hour, and among the eight songs he sang were Westlife’s Swear It Again, My Love and Uptown Girl.

Popular singer-actress Nur Fazura Sharifuddin, 35, performed a half hour segment which saw her sang the newly-released debut English single Can’t Forget Me, and Sayangi Dirimu.

Her actor-singer husband Fattah Amin then joined her on stage, and the couple performed their new duet Paling Sempurna.

Later, Fattah, 28, performed Isterimewa, a number which is dedicated to his wife.

The concert’s “mystery” artiste was rapper Wee Meng Chee or Namewee, who entertained the crowd for half an hour with four songs as To The North and muhibbah anthem Ali, Ah Kau Dan Muthu.

The free, 180-minute concert was organised by Universal Music Malaysia and presented by Sime Darby Property.

It was held to mark the opening of the first 18 hectares of the 150-hectare park, home to the country’s first inclusive playground which will be ready in June.

The concert was preceded by games and activities tailored for families such as hot air balloon rides, a 12D cinema, inflatable obstacle courses and food trucks.

Westlife, formed in 1998 was disbanded in 2012, only to be reunited last year.

Besides Filan, its other members are Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, and Mark Feehily. The group has released 10 studio albums.
