#Showbiz: When Luqman meets Michael Owen...

KUALA LUMPUR: Ola Bola The Musical’s “super striker” Ahmad Ali, better known as actor Luqman Hafidz, is a staunch Liverpool fan.

Better yet, he actually met his football hero, Michael Owen who once played for Liverpool at a meet-and-greet session on March 3.

The session was also a viewing party of the recent English Premier League football match between Liverpool and Everton.

Organised by Cadbury Malaysia, the official snack partner of the Premier League, it was held at The Square in Publika, Solaris Dutamas here.

Luqman uploaded a photo of himself greeting Owen at the event on Instagram recently.

In its caption he said: “One with legendary Liverpool Number 10 Michael Owen. He said to me you are a very good player, keep on playing and you’ll never walk alone.

“Yes I allowed myself to be one of The Reds that night becuse it’s Michael Owen on the pitch.

“You really made something good happen to me that night.”

Luqman, 27, excels in football and played Ahmad Ali in Ola Bola The Movie in 2016 and Ola Bola The Musical for two seasons beginning last year.

Besides Owen, his other football heroes include Datuk Mokhtar Dahari and Datuk Hassan Sani, whom Ahmad Ali is modelled after.

Ola Bola The Musical’s second season was staged at Istana Budaya from Feb 18 to March 11.

It was produced by Enfiniti Productions and directed by Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina.

Both the musical and movie tell the story of the Malaysian national football team’s preparations for its historic match against South Korea, to qualify for the 1980s Olympics in Moscow.
